Bio

David Perrin is a Brooklyn-based illustrator, collage artist, and art director whose work sits at the intersection of visual storytelling, social justice, and cultural history. Operating through his studio, dpicting, he has created editorial illustration, poster design, brand identity, and campaign graphics for clients including the Ford Foundation, Smithsonian Magazine, PBS Independent Lens, and Data for Black Lives.

His work spans print, editorial, documentary, and experiential design — from report covers and film posters to microsites and social media campaigns. David brings a distinctive collage-driven aesthetic to every project, layering archival imagery, photography, and illustration to create work that is politically intentional and visually compelling.

Beyond the studio, David serves as Design Lead and Acting Head of Design at the Ford Foundation, where he leads creative direction for editorial, social media, and communications initiatives. He is an incoming Adjunct Lecturer in Visual Arts at Baruch College, CUNY.

David is Education Chair of AIGA New York, where he champions design education and community access to the profession. He has been recognized with the World Illustration Award and has spoken at CommNet, InHouse InFocus Design, and AIGA NY’s Justice by Design. His perspectives on design, illustration, and creative practice have been featured on the Revision Path podcast and The Art School Graduate podcast.
